What is Mahila Samriddhi Yojana?

The Mahila Samriddhi scheme 2024 was launched by the National Backwards Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The women empowerment scheme offers the following aid: 

  • Supports training cost and stipend for the training of a group of 20 women in appropriate craft activities
  • Provides loans up to 90% of the Project Cost with a maximum amount of INR 1.25 lakhs.

Women from underprivileged classes can benefit from the scheme if they belong to the SC or ST category. Additionally, the Self-Help Groups (SHG) can take advantage of the scheme.

  • Provides loans to targeted groups, which can be individuals or SHGs, as per the eligibility criteria

  • Maximum loan limit per SHG is INR 15 lakh, while per beneficiary is INR 1.25 lakh

  • Remaining 10% is provided by the State Channelizing Agents (SCAs) as a subsidy, a loan, or any other available source of funds 
  • Rate of interest by NSFDC will be 1% from the SCAs/CAs, which in turn will charge 4% from the beneficiaries 
  • Repayment is to be done in quarterly instalments within a 4-year duration. It includes a moratorium period of 6 months after the recovery of the principal

Eligibility Criteria of Mahila Samriddhi Yojana

  • Women must be from the Backward class (SC/ST/OBC categories) or low-income families, as per the updated notification by the Central/State Governments 
  • Applicant must be between 18 to 55 years of age 
  • Annual family income of the applicant should be up to INR 3 lakhs 
  • For SHG, 60% of members can be from Backward classes, and the remaining 40% may be from other weaker sections, such as minorities/handicapped/SC, or others
  • Applicant should not be taking benefits from similar government loan schemes 
  • Applicants must have an active bank account to receive the loan 

Exclusions

Applicants belonging to households other than low-income households and not in the state age range.

  • Address proof - Ration card, utility bill, or domicile certificate 
  • Identity proof - Aadhaar card, PAN card, or voter ID
  • Age proof - Birth certificate, school certificate, or any other ID
  • Business plan indicating a detailed outline 
  • Bank account details through a passbook copy or a bank statement 
  • Caste certificate for applicants from backward classes and minority communities 
  • SHG membership ID 
  • Self-declaration form stating that the applicant is not availing benefits from similar schemes 
  • Income certificate from a competent authority 
  • Recent passport-sized photographs

  • Attach the required documents and submit the form to the respective financial institution 
  • After verification and approval, the loan will be sanctioned as per the applicant’s bank account
