What is Agnipath Yojana?

Agnipath Yojana or Agniveer scheme is a centralised short-term recruitment plan for the Army, Navy and Air Force. According to this model, Agniveers are recruited, and after four years of service, they are trained, given monthly emoluments, allowances and insured.

When it is completed successfully, they are credited to their bank account with their Seva Nidhi package that contains government contributions and interest. At best, not more than 25 per cent of every batch can be chosen to join the regular cadres permanently, on performance and service standards.
